Education:

  • B.S., Petroleum Engineering, 1971, Louisiana State University
  • Computer courses in programming, systems analysis, networking, operating systems, and management

Work experience:

Experience includes 6 years in drilling engineering, and over 30 years in all phases of computer software design, hardware, networking, and operations. The latter includes about 12 years in computer operations, networking, and management.

Oil and gas experience as Drilling Engineer, Drilling Superintendant, Reservoir studies and simulation. Development and debugging of seismic graphical software, including 3D seismic data and fence diagrams, as well as development of a comprehensive well information system for Sun Oil International in Dallas, Texas.

Inventions and Patents:

Four (4) pending patent applications on file with USPTO: The first deals with postal security; the second with credit card security; and the last two deal with curbing identity theft, and credit card transaction authentication methodologies.

Recent Positions:

  • 10/95 – Present: Computer Manager; Dept. of Petroleum Engineering, Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA 70803
    • Serves as IT manager and provides technical support and assistance to more than 200 students, faculty, and staff. Provides Masters and Ph.D. student candidates with technical support to facilitate their research and projects.
    • Manages under 200 PC workstations, and 6 computer servers, including domain servers, DNS, DHCP, SQL, Web, License, and application servers.
    • Operating systems include Windows XP, 2000, 2003, and Vista platforms.
    • Manages Application development projects in Visual Basic, C++, C, Java Script, and Active server Pages (ASP).
    • Sets up and manages domain servers, web servers, data base servers, and application servers.
    • Specifies and orders computer hardware and software needed for the department.
  • 08/94 – 10/95: Network Administrator; LSU Libraries, Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA 70803
    • Network Administrator for the main university library and LSU archives.
    • Platforms: Novell 3.25, IBM VM, & Windows for workgroups.

Personal:
