Graduate Program Admission Requirements
Application Deadlines:
- Fall - April 15
- Spring - September 15
Applications take at least a week to be forwarded to the Department from the Graduate School. Only applications completed and in the department by the deadline will be considered.
It is LSU's policy that
applications are considered only after all the following documents are
received and the fee is paid.
Application Checklist:
- Application completed and all fees paid. Apply online.
- One Official transcript from each college or university attended. International applicants: Include degree statements and an English translation of each foreign document.
- Official GRE scores (copies sent by applicant are not official). The department requires a minimum score of 1000 on the GRE (verbal plus quantitative). Test scores
must be sent directly by the Educational Testing Service (ETS) to be official. LSU Code: 6373 .
- (International Applicants Only) Official TOEFL scores. The department requires a 550 (Paper Based), 213 (Computer Based) or 79 (Internet Based) TOEFL score. LSU Code: 6373.
- Three letters of recommendation (LSU does not have form letters for this)
- Statement of Purpose. Your name must be on it.
Send transcripts and test scores to the Graduate School. The three Recommendation Letters and Statement of Purpose must be emailed (in PDF format) or mailed directly to the department:

International Applicants
International applicants are
advised to submit the application and supporting documents at least
ten months in advance of the start of the semester they are seeking
admission. (Fall - July; Spring - December)
Once the Graduate School and
the department have approved admission, and sufficient financial
responsibility has been verified, the International Services Office
(ISO) is notified. ISO
will then prepare and issue the appropriate immigration documents to
you. |
