Unless you have a printer wired up directly to the back of your PC which is visible, you would not be able to print directly. Instead, you must use a network printer. To do this, you must “Add a Network Printer” to your logon profile.
1. Double Click on the Start button, Control Panel, Printers, or in WinXP to Printers and Faxes under Start.
2. Double Click on the “Add Printers”.
3. Select the "radio button" indicating “Network printer server”, if not done for you, already. Click the “Next” button, underneath.
4. Click the second radio button, and for "Name", type in: \\ServerName\PrinterName, as follows:
a. Connect to the UG Computer Lab printer as: \\PETE1\LabPrinter
c. Connect to printer DD: as \\PETE1\DD
5. Click on next, then click on the radio button to indicate if this is going to be your "Default Printer". You can change the default printer later on under the Printers icon, “Properties” sub-menu after this configuration.
6. Repeat the steps 2, through 3 to connect to other 3 printers.
NOTE: After configuring lsu-gsprint printers, you must right click on the printer icon, select "properties", click on the "Printing Preferences", select the "Valid Access" tab and enter the room number as the security code. Then save it by pressing "Apply" and then "OK" buttons. This set up stays with your logon-id on that computer only.
Also note that the "color" and "copier" functions on the UG Lab Printer is locked out and is not available for use.
